I’ve been scrapbooking some pictures from my son’s first Christmas (which was in 2005!). Here are the layouts I have completed:

My husband’s squadron had a Christmas party, Santa and all. We were stationed at Yokota AFB in Tokyo, Japan.

If you haven’t already done so, go check out this month’s Songbird Avenue charity kit, Sugar Plums by Jan Crowley, Meredith Fenwick and Lilypad Designers. It’s a fantastic and different Christmas themed kit and all the proceeds go to Toys for Tots!

Journaling: It was your first Christmas and it was December 17, 2005 not the 25th. That may be considered a bold move on our part but we were moving the week after Christmas and most of our stuff, including some of your gifts would be unseen for more than 3 months. So we thought it was best to have Christmas early so we could enjoy our gifts before we had to pack them away.

Christmas was fascinating to you. All the sparkle lights, ornaments and papers were what interested you most. You were quite immobile at the time so mostly you stared at everything with your tongue sticking out (that’s another story). For being only 3 months old you received many gifts, including clothes, books and stuffed animals. You were very unimpressed with the whole event. The only time you showed any emotion was when you saw the gifts Grandma Rupp sent since they were wrapped in foil paper. Oh and when you wanted a bottle instead of another gift.

I just wished that our whole family could have been there. Living in Japan made that impossible but they were atleast there in our hearts.

Journaling: Once all the gifts were opened and the excitement of Christmas was over we were quite tired. You and I took an impromptu nap. I am very glad daddy took the initiative to take a picture of this tender moment. This is one of the special moments I miss, now that you are older and to big to fall asleep in my lap (at least comfortably for
either of us).

So there is all my layouts for Christmas of 2005. Done. Complete. Yeah! Now I just need to do 2006!

This layout is a little personal. My husband is a meteorologist for the Air Force and he is getting out this summer. He is still looking for a job so we don’t know where we are moving too! This has caused a lot of stress and alot of bad weather for us.

Lately we’ve been under a lot of stress with the upcoming move and Liam’s constant tantrums; our weeks are starting to look like the weather forecast for a storm coming.. I do not like arguing with you but we always seem to be doing so. At least at the end of each storm we have sunny weather when we spend time to together and love each other. Now we just need more sunny days. Being a weather man maybe you can forecast some sunny days ahead for us!

I had bought this kit before I had started digi-scrapping for a project but then never used it. Now I am finally using it!

Okay it’s been awhile since I last posted, but that is because I am now pregnant. We now have a digital camera so I took some pictures of the scenery on base.

These are mostly pictures of various different trees in Japan.

The Cherry Blossoms were at there best two days ago but it had been raining for the past three days and I was unable to get a good picture.

For Thanksgiving we decided to dine at Tama Hills, the Yokota AB Annex also know as the country club. We had quite an adventure to get there. We left at 12:30 armed with a lousy map and a quarter of tank of gas (and the only onbase gas station was closed!). Click on the Start below to view our trip (that is our lousy map).

[Map no longer available]

You can see that we got lost a lot. It’s a 45 minute drive and it took us two hours to get there and two hours back! Luckily our reservation was for 4 because even tough we left at 12:30 we didn’t get there until 2:30. Then we left there about 5 and got home around 7:30 (we did go to rent a movie on base).

As for the dinner… we both agreed that our moms’ are much better cooks. The turkey was dry, the stuffing over spiced, the gravey too thick, and the pumpkin pie tasted like the dough of ginger bread cookies. Okay may our expectations were too high. Sam did clear his plate.

While we were waiting for our reservation we did explore the annex. We went to the stables and I found out about horse riding lessons. I have decided to give riding a try, but I’m going to wait until spring. Then we decided to try our hands at archery. Both of use haven’t had archery in several years and we did horribly. We ended up returning the bows and arrows after 15 minutes because it wasn’t very much fun.

We are thinking about staying at Tama for our first date anniversary (March 5), but we will have to see if Sam can get time off.
