Here is a layout I made today of my sorta first mother’s day. I was 5 months pregnant. I had gone to a mother’s day event on base and ended up winning a photo of myself in a Kimono. The Japanese ladies who dressed me were all excited about me having a baby too! They just love babies!

Journaling: I was a long way from family. I was 5 months pregnant for the first time and it was mother’s day. I was all alone, my husband sleeping after a night shift. The shining moment of the day was winning a photo of myself in an authentic Japanese Kimono. Yokota AFB, Japan. May 8, 2005.

I’ve been scrapbooking some pictures from my son’s first Christmas (which was in 2005!). Here are the layouts I have completed:
My husband’s squadron had a Christmas party, Santa and all. We were stationed at Yokota AFB in Tokyo, Japan.

If you haven’t already done so, go check out this month’s Songbird Avenue charity kit, Sugar Plums by Jan Crowley, Meredith Fenwick and Lilypad Designers. It’s a fantastic and different Christmas themed kit and all the proceeds go to Toys for Tots!

Journaling: It was your first Christmas and it was December 17, 2005 not the 25th. That may be considered a bold move on our part but we were moving the week after Christmas and most of our stuff, including some of your gifts would be unseen for more than 3 months. So we thought it was best to have Christmas early so we could enjoy our gifts before we had to pack them away.
Christmas was fascinating to you. All the sparkle lights, ornaments and papers were what interested you most. You were quite immobile at the time so mostly you stared at everything with your tongue sticking out (that’s another story). For being only 3 months old you received many gifts, including clothes, books and stuffed animals. You were very unimpressed with the whole event. The only time you showed any emotion was when you saw the gifts Grandma Rupp sent since they were wrapped in foil paper. Oh and when you wanted a bottle instead of another gift.
I just wished that our whole family could have been there. Living in Japan made that impossible but they were atleast there in our hearts.

Journaling: Once all the gifts were opened and the excitement of Christmas was over we were quite tired. You and I took an impromptu nap. I am very glad daddy took the initiative to take a picture of this tender moment. This is one of the special moments I miss, now that you are older and to big to fall asleep in my lap (at least comfortably for
either of us).
So there is all my layouts for Christmas of 2005. Done. Complete. Yeah! Now I just need to do 2006!

My friend Jamie chose seven of my interests for me to explain. Well actually it started on LiveJournal where, I guess, they have a list of interests in their profiles. Since I didn’t have a list he just selected seven of my most popular tags. If you comment on this post I will pick seven interests for you to blog about.
Here goes:
adsr: ADSR stands for Amazing Digi Scrapping Race. I participated in the 2nd season this past August. I teamed up with Jodie Smith. I really enjoyed all the challenges. You can read more about this here. Here is some of the layous I made for the race:

atomic cupcake: Atomic Cupcake is a website that offers many Photoshop actions geared towards scrapbookers. I end up using one of the actions in most of my layouts. My favorites are the paper tearing and chipboard actions.
japan: Is where I lived from October 8, 2004 to Januay 7, 2006. We were stationed at Yokota AFB outside of Tokyo. I loved it but I was missing my family so much that I didn’t realize how much I loved it until we left. My first child was born there. The people of Japan are very nice and friendly. They are honest and hardworking.
jeanine baechtold: Jeanine Baechtold is my favorite designer and I work with her at RAKScraps. She is in my tags list because I use her designs most often in my layouts, along with Jen Reed’s designs.
liam: My first born. My son. My life! I could not image my life without him. He is everything to me. I scrapbook more about him than any other subject.
rakscraps: RAKScraps is my favorite digital scrapbooking website. I am also on the elements, sponsor, and events team there. I host a monthly Elements Challenge there along with contributing to the Mega-Kit.
scrapbooking: This is what I do all day… scrapbooking. I love to scrapbooking whether it’s paper or digital. You may have noticed my blog is mostly about scrapbooking! Why do I love scrapbooking? Well because I get to design, craft and preserve history which are all things I enjoy to do.

I decided to make a new design for the site. The last one was a pre-made one and I have been dying to make my own. It has taken 4 days but I have finally finished it. Please let me know what you think and if you find any errors! Also check out the new look of the gallery. It’s a pre-made template and it doesn’t match this blog but I like it this way!
In honor of my new design I have made this mini-kit:

Includes: 3 Pattern Papers, 1 Overlay, 1 Postcard, 1 Satin Ribbon, 1 Japanese Text Rub-on, and 25 Kanji Symbol Rub-ons
You can download it here: Welcome to Japan (252). The download link will expire on June 30, 2007. Please do not redistribute this freebie. If you wish to share it with others send them to the site http://candaceduffyjones.com. DO NOT link directly to the zip file, that is considered stealing!

Here is a layout made with this kit:

I had a bunch on photos of my son playing with Yen (Japanese money) which I didn’t know if I would even bother scrapping until I came up with this idea.
