Shodo – Japanese Calligraphy

These two shodō (Japanese calligraphy) works were created while I was living in Japan, where my husband was stationed at Yokota Air Force Base. During that time, I had the opportunity to study shodō under a local instructor, learning traditional brush techniques and the cultural significance behind each stroke and character. The first piece represents the word Eternal, capturing the graceful, flowing movement of the brush to evoke a sense of timelessness. The second depicts the word Moon, using balance and contrast to reflect the quiet beauty and simplicity found in nature. These works reflect my deep appreciation for Japanese culture and the meditative discipline of calligraphy.
