This charcoal drawing was completed in my Drawing III course as part of a continued exploration of the human figure. In this piece, I focused on using deep shadows and minimal highlights to convey form, weight, and atmosphere. The figure emerges from the darkness through subtle tonal shifts and confident, gestural marks, creating a moody and introspective composition. This work allowed me to experiment with dramatic lighting and negative space, pushing my understanding of how value and contrast can shape the emotional tone of a piece.
